Apple CarPlay Upgrade

I recently acquired a 2016 Berlingo with the big touch screen, pic attached.  It is compatible with Android phones via MirrorLink but does not have CarPlay for Apple iPhones.  I have been researching options for adding CarPlay but they all seem ridiculously pricey (around £500). Has anyone here managed to upgrade this unit to add CarPlay cost effectively? Thanks

As far as I know the inbuilt Car Play facility continues to work well for iPhone users.

The Mirrorlink facility for Android users is basically finished, only certain phones on older versions of Android are able to continue to use Mirrorlink, no new users will be able to start using it and existing users will lose connectivity upon Android OS update.

My head unit does not have inbuilt CarPlay, that was why I was asking whether anyone here had managed to add CarPlay functionality to theirs. To clarify, I can play music etc from my iPhone using Bluetooth but cannot access iPhone apps on the head unit.

Carplay is simply a dealership plug in and tick a box - mine was added during a service because i simply asked them to tick the option in the software.

Someone with an updated version of lexia or similar could do it for you i am sure - £500 is daylight robbery

Thanks.  I will request this but I think it will depend on the model of Berlingo whether CarPlay is available.  Mine is a B9 so the previous generation to yours.

Hi - I’ve just picked up a 2015 Berlingo with the exact same dash as yours, but it has car play & works fine. I assumed it was a standard feature but maybe not - I don’t have much history. I’m not fully up to speed with everything but is there a way of checking the ICE firmware version?

Edit: just noticed mirror link was mentioned, I haven’t tried that, I connect via the usb socket to the left of the gear lever & can use google maps etc from the iphone app that way
