Get yourself a Haynes manual for the Berlingo model you have . (bookshop or internet)
It shows how to do things easy things like changing thermostats or big jobs like rebuilding the engine . Worth the money for someone like you who is unsure of repairing/servicing their car.
Go to a motor factor where you should get a thermostat and gasket before you do the job. you will then know what your looking for and the gasket is handy as the old ones are easily damaged when removing the thermostat cover
The thermostat is a easy job , follow the top radiator hose from the radiator to the engine and the thermostat is under a cap with 2 or 3 bolts where the hose ends
