I have a 2000 Berlingo 1.9 D. It’s a Spanish one so the right hand side door the passenger door
And the rear door someone tried to break in. Both locks you can’t put the key in and you can’t lock the vehicle. Also the central locking doesn’t work. I don’t mind about the central locking. I just have the warning light on all the time saying that the door is not closed. I have ordered new locks and can fit them.
When I lock the drivers door on the left the passenger door doesn’t lock. Is there something else I need re the central locking? Is there a way to disconnect the central locking or will the light stay on?
Are you sure your car / van has central locking fitted. None of the multispace we own have, newest being 2001. As you mentioned the red light is an indicator that it thinks a door is not shut properly and is fitted to ours as well.

Yes am sure it has central locking cause when I turn key in drivers door the button goes down in the passenger door (where lock broken) and the side doors lock aswell. And then unlock just after. It’s a 2000 but maybe as it’s got rear seats and is Spanish maybe central locking was an option. Anyways I guess I will change the broken locks and see what happens. I think there must be an electronic unit somewhere that’s bust.
If the car thinks there is a door open then the central locking system will try to lock then immediately unlock.
Does your car tell you which door is open ? if not you'll have to check each door in turn.
I have this issue all the time with my 1999 MultiSpace, without even getting a red light. I usually solve it by opening and closing the sliding door, and if that doesn't help, I do the front passenger door, also.
If your car has the dreaded BSI, it might need a reset.
If your car doesn't have it, then the central locking controller is hidden behind the panel next to the rear pasenger seat, on the driver's side.
(Worst case; unplug it there)
How did they attempt to break in?
It's possible that something doesn't line up correctly, so that the actuators can't move the bolt properly on one door, and then it defaults to unlocking again.
It looks like they attempted the
The right hand side door (it’s Spanish) and the rear door. Both of these locks don’t work. I have warning light on. How would I disable the light on the dashboard. Is it just the case of removing a fuse as I don’t care about the central locking.
HOW did they attempt the break-in, not WHERE.
The usual 'screwdriver in the lock and bend away'?
Or did they try to force open the doors with a crowbar?
Tried a new lock. Didn’t help. Can I just cut one of the wires to disable the central locking ? There is green. Green and yellow. Pink, thin green and a pale blue.
