During a motorway run, dry good weather, the ESP and ABS lights came on. Pulled over and noticed the hill assist had stopped working. Stopped the engine. Restarted and the lights out, hill assist working. Stopped and started a few times since and no reoccurrence.
Any ideas on the cause/remedy?
Thanks, Rob

The wheel speed sensors (ABS sensors) must have seen a bad signal for some reason, this can sometimes be caused by a bit of dirt or a piece of rust from the hub sticking to the magnetic tone wheel which disrupts the signal briefly and flags the warning light.
The hill assist system will work from the wheel speed sensors so it won't work when there is an ABS signal fault.
I would ignore the problem now that the warning light is off, obviously if the problem reappears there will be some fault finding to do.

Hi, the only way you’ll know where the problem lies is by having the fault codes scanned via the OBD port in the glove box by suitable equipment.
I had similar issues and it turned out to be both the brake pedal switch AND the wiring to one of the rear wheel speed sensors (not the sensor itself)
The fault will be stored in the ecu regardless of whether the warning light is on or off.
Cheers

Thanks for the replies - more reassured! I've ordered a code reader just to check. The warranty (such as it is) expires in a couple of weeks so if there is a problem I'd rather know.
