Water in the case of windows in the trunk
#1
Hello.

With my 2003 Berlingo, the left window always has a pool of water or a puddle on the trunk floor after rain, as it sometimes becomes too much and runs down.

What would be a suitable procedure?
Replace the seal or do you have a tip or two?
I don't see any damage to the seal itself.

Thanks for your help and sharing your experiences! Big Grin

A bit of guesswork, but you need to investigate where the water is coming from, it could be the hinge itself as the rubber seals of the screw/metal nut might have perished or somewhere around the outer rubber seals. Could it be just condensation perhaps.

These might have been opened and the dirt/dust that accumulates there might dislodged and leave a bit of space for the water to enter. Open them, clean the inside of the window where it meets the seal and the seal itself.

If the outer seals and the screw/nut seals are not damaged you could try to tighten the central screw of the hinges. They might not tighten more, so then a metal washer underneath the screw might give you a bit of space to close the rear window tighter to the frame. You may need someone to help you to hold/push the outer big metal nut. The nut is held to this central screw. The head of these entral screws get easily damaged and I replaced them with a hex head, so it is easier to screw them.
