Hi guys I'm going to attempt a gearbox swap as 3rd gear synchro failed , is there any posts with pics available please or advise , or is it best to change just some parts leaving box in place ?

Which model Berlingo?
If you can get a working gearbox at a decent price, I'd go for that.
(Opening a gearbox is not for the faint hearted)
Usually, pulling the gearbox means getting the car up on a 4poster, or at least jackstands, removing the front wheels and both axles, disconnecting a whole load of cables and suchabove and around the gearbox, possibly loosening a motor mount, then swearing profusely as you try to slide the box down between the front of the body and a frame member. It may be easier to just hoist the engine and gearbox out as one unit...
Parts that you may need to swap:
Driveshaft oil seals, driveshaft outer joint gaiters.
Lower ball joints.
Gear linkages.
Clutch arm bushings(or whatever they're called)
Parts you'd be stupid not to change while you're at it:
Clutch.
