Air box and filter
#1
Hello all,

I am after peoples thoughts on using the car without the airbox and filter.

What happened and why you may ask.

I was driving along an unmade road and managed to somehow rip off the airbox and filter in a rut.! My wife says i was going to fast....i can not believe that!!

So the intake pipe from behind the grill and the airbox are totally gone.
The pipe from the otner side of the airbox is still there and it has a grill, obviously to stop large debris heading toward the engine. Over this grill i have afixed a cut down air filter panel from a hob to stop any small debris getting into the engine.

Until my replacement parts arrive will there be any great issue in using the car ?
It runs fine and sounds fine.

Cheers all.

(The picture is taken from beneath the car and shows the filter over the pipe that runs from the airbox to the engine.)

Put one of your wifes stockings over the pipe the finer the mesh the better but not fishnet lol. It should be fine for a bit until your new bits arrive but be careful with water ingress going up there.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Have now been running the vehicle since the 25th.
My bits have arrived and the temporary filter can go!
I did not run the car in the rain though as i was not that confident it would be a good idea.

So, the new airbox and down pipe from the top of the radiator grill fitted and all is fine.

Fitting is simple enough..move the splash guard by the wheel and access to all three bolts is there.

Moral of the story...don't offroad at speed!
