replacement bodywork
#1
Hi...
looking around the car.. found the drivers side jacking point has crumbled....
Yes it would be possible to make a replacement... but without one to hand to go off a lot of faffing...
but in ye olden days there were shops that sold repair panels.....
is it possible to buy such a part for a Berlingo?

Ohh gear change is very stiff... can get into gear and drives
but as it has sat for a while ... suggestions?
I assume the three linkage rods have has it....

Maybe Citroen sell repair panels? You might find the part number on catcar.info

Changing the gearbox oil will help the gear change, but like you say, it may be the linkages.

Ahh, the good old days when the first thing I did when buying a car was check the 'Melbros' catalogue to see what patch panels were available...

Do you plan on using the original jack and jacking point? No need to replicate it if not, as long as the patch is good and solid.
My van: 2008 Berlingo 1.6 HDi Enterprise - a bit ratty!

I was wondering if t would be ok to remove the bits... the remains could be ground away and simply painted over.. no big holes...
Tend to use a trolley jack.. so will prob go for removal....

Yes always look at what the spares availability is lke....
Brother has a Moggy Pickup... he brought a van for spares...
I may have the remains of the van as there are enough repair panels available that I could rebuild it

cheers for the input

The panel IS awailable...

I had the panel along the righthand side(one long panel) replaced by a bodyshop a few years ago as it was basically just rust held together by the paint. The panel cost about £120 or so(may be cheaper in England or France, though. Stuff costs here in Norway) and that was an original Citroën made panel. They didn't find any third party supplier for this panel.

Because this was a MOT fail(I believe this panel is considered structural) I had to get it done by a professional, and that costs quite a bit since it's a pain to replace. But at least they did a swell job and painted it afterwards, too.

On the M49/M59, it's generally the side with a sliding door that gets it...

My sill had rotted through and I patched them 2 years ago, pre Covid. Van failed mot yesterday as o/s sill hag rotted bit further along. Anyway, it was jacking points collapsing that first brought it to my attention. I found it earlier to cut front off sill, then repair inner sill then weld front back on again. I don’t use Citroen jack so don’t use jacking points anyway. I meant to replace both sills last year but couldn’t use van anyway so it’s stood for 18 months.
Garage has patched sill up for £100 and I’ve sourced a place in Oxford that does replacement sills for £54 a pair. https://www.centralpanels.co.uk/product-...1996-2002/
