SOS button...how to subscribe and other Q's?
#1
For peace of mind I tried the Citroen website and ended up no better off, so I look to the experts for help...still looking at this button, the one opposite it, and have questions:

1) How do I know if there is already a subscription;
2) How do I get it if I haven't got it;
3) How much does it cost;
4) Do you have to have your phone connected to the car for it to work;
5) Has anyone been unfortunate to have had to use it and was it worth it?

Regards

Luckily never had to use it but asked similar questions of the dealer when we picked ours up.

No there is no subscription it is just a feature of the car as I understand it. I was told it does not use your phone, but is integral software.

A work colleague who has a different model of Citroen, pressed the breakdown button by accident once, she told me. They were connected to an operator who was fine when they explained it was an accidental button press.

How then does it communicate?

The manual suggests the button lights up momentarily during ignition start (as a sort of POST I suppose). Does yours?

I assume it's all part of the inbuilt tracking software, I know when you push the button the car automatically relays the position of the car (the same software that knows where the car is on the Citroen App on your phone).  The SOS button is supposed to do that automatically I believe in a big accident.

Never looked up at the buttons when starting - I'll have a look next time.

Just one other point how does it communicate with Citroen? If it doesnt use your phone it must have its own simcard/satellite connection.

If it uses a 4G data connection a crash in the mountains, tunnel, under tree cover, or high sided valley might not be a good idea.

Anyone know the limitations of this SOS system?

I would honestly just press it. If someone picks up, just say you just bought the car and were testing the button.
