So format the USB stick in FAT32 format using Windows and copy the folders and files from the PC to the USB stick as you did before. Try again in the car.

BTW make sure the licence folder is named correctly with all lower case letters.

Thanks again.
I re-formatted the usb by doing a full format to FAT32, it took nearly an hour!!!
I then reloaded the files as per Citroen instructions.
Now I come to your last interesting comment regarding the licence folder:
When downloaded it is named 'License'
Citroen say to put it in a folder named 'Licence'
But you are suggesting it should, in fact be, 'licence' ie all lower case.
I will give that a try in the morning.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

By the way just looked again at the Citroen information pdf.
It says: Create a “Licence” folder on your USB stick (please use this exact spelling) and copy your
*.key format licence file into it.
The file tree of your USB stick must be consistent with the following:
The screen shot below shows :
Kingston D:
and a folder called: license
I will try the all lower case format

I've looked back at my USB stick folder/file structure and it is totally different. I have a TomTom Navi Touchscreen fitted, but no idea of it proper designation. I've only had the car 2 weeks but learning quickly. The vehicle is as described in my signature at the message bottom.
My USB stick was made using Citroen_Update_Setup_0.1.24.exe and after it was installed (as an administrator) in Windows I ran the program and it automatically made folders named 'licence' and 'SWL' it was both a firmware update and map update. The licence folder contained a single file with a .key extension. The SWL folder was more complex containing 2 subfolders and many more sub folders below. The used stick space totalled just over 24Gb.
I do not really follow why you didn't use the MyCitroen phone app to email yourself the link to download Citroen_Update_Setup_0.1.24.exe direct onto your Windows PC. Once you install the setup program on the PC and run it, it makes your folders and files on your USB stick. Simply done.
I guess you have some older version of vehicle as the system you are using was termed something like the 'old manual way' in the instructions and the file structure is different.
It's a way of doing it but too easy to make an error if you are not familiar with it and it wont work.

Hi Friendly_Fire
You are a star, yes all lower case for the folder name. Yet Citroen quite clearly state it should have an upper case 'L'????
All done now, took best part of an hour to complete the update but all looks good now.
Thank you so much for taking the time to coach me through it.
Regards
Geoff

All the above his over my head I don’t have the windows computer etc does anyone know we’re I could get someone to put it onto a usb stick I paid the local computer shop saying that they have put it onto the usb but it doesn’t work when putting it into the touchscreen I don’t have the tech knowledge to even check if it’s even on the usb I’m stuffed really looks like I’ll just leave it thanks Sean.
Did they just do the download ? According to the earlier posts it needs to be unzipped to a folder before it is installed.
So where does this bit go then ?

I first went through the same issues. Then the Citroen PC app did it all automatically: downloaded the correct firmware, formatted the USB stick and transferred all to the correct folders.
