Oil filter up dated?
#1
Have bought a new filter for van and its not the same as the one taken out.Have not had this vehicle long enough to know if this filter is ok. The omission of a hole seems quite fundamental Sad  unless it was never used. Does anyone no if the new filter in the picture is OK. Thanks

Not certain for the B9 and I assume this is HDi (oil is too black to be petrol), but the filter on my M59 (1.6HDi; 2007) has always been the one on the left in the picture (without the hole). I do not think there have been that many design differences between the M59 and the B9.

Ok Thankyou. It is the HDI 2013. Seems the hole makes no difference . Wonder what it was there for originally? Maybe the new one is the right one and the used one isn’t.

I have not seen that design before, the one with the hole. As far as I understand/know the pointy bit is for positioning of the filter.

The new filter is OK. The hole in the filter housing is to allow the oil to drain when the filter is removed. I've never seen a filter like you old one.
