My bum hurts!
#1
Yeah...

The foam in the driver's seat of my M49 has completely collapsed, so I can now feel the frame, the springs, everything.

Yes, I could probably find a replacement seat at a breakers yard, but... how good would that be?
(Wet, mouldy and used for almost as many years as mine? No thank you)

So I went online, and found that a company in Frnce, Tissens, makes and sell these.
They wanted €50 + shipping for it, which was slightly below the pain threshold.

Ordered it on 23rd of August.
It supposedly shipped on the 24th, using DPD...

Here's the tracking for it. Newest on top.

On Sept 1, I contacted DPD and they told me that 'paperwork was missing' and that Tissens had to contact them.
I got in touch with Tissens(all their messages were in French) and they must have been in touch with DPD since the package was returned to them.

No sign of it being re-sent or anything.

I'm guessing that they're unfamiliar with shipping stuff outside of the EU, or even outside France.

They've reshipped it, this time with the French Postal service.
Fingers crossed...

If it doesn't arrive, you might be able to restore the foam - if it's not too far gone - by using a steamer (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rndD6tzZPo). Or maybe patch it up with new foam inserts (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32bMlq-9JUc). There are quite a few youtube videos on this topic.

Foam in a passenger seat should not be so badly worn, try fitting a squab out of one from a van. M59 should fit and be newer.
So where does this bit go then ?

The foam in my seat is broken into bits. what hasn't turned to powder, that is....

Seats and other interior fittings with foam or fabric is something I really want to avoid buying from a breaker. Most of them keep the wrecks outdoors, and as soon as someone buys a door or window out of one, the interior is permanently exposed to weather. Add the 'greenhouse effect' when the sun hits it, and you get perfect conditions for mold.

The LaPoste site states
'Your parcel was sent too recently, it cannot yet be tracked on our site. Please try again later.'

The Parcelsapp.com/en site reports:
Your Colissimo will soon be handed over to us! It is being prepared by the sender. If you have any questions, you can contact your sender or their customer service.

Either way, odds are that I'm not fixing the seat this weekend, either...

I NEED to take a shopping trip to IKEA soon, and it's 200Km one way. That won't happen before I fix the seat.

The French LAPoste seems to work on Saturdays. (That's more than can be said about the Norwegian Post... )
They picked up the package this afternoon, and it's already at the airport (Roissy ).
