[Warning Light] 56 plate

Hi some pointers please.
It's a petrol manual engine and it still drives like a bomb...BUT
I had the cam belt changed and now the warning light stays on. Several beeps when you turn the key on and then the light flashes STOP and the same light as the handbrak light is on continuesly.
The mobile mechanic I used - surprise has not come back to me despite trying to contact him numerous times. So, i bought a fault finder gadget you plug into the box and it doesn't pick up any faults? Where do i go from here?

Have you checked the obvious - the level of the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir? If it is low you need to find out where its leaking before driving it.

Thanks I did check that and it's ok, my mate said it could be the sensor> my next question is...where is it and can I change it or clean it?

If the fault code is ABS brake related then cheap code readers don't see the codes and they can't be cleared either. Maybe you need to spend a bit at a proper garage and find out what's generating the code, but you'll probably have to fix the fault before the code can then be cleared.

From the description it sounds like the warning light for low brake fluid is on, this will trigger the STOP warning light also.

Check the plug and wiring that connects to the master cylinder reservoir.

Could it be low coolant warning. You had new water pump with timing belt I guess. Level might have dropped if air trapped in system
