Limp mode
#1
Hi all,

My 2013 16hdi Multispace has been running great until a couple of weeks ago, when I got a yellow warning triangle and the car went into reduced power 'Limp mode'.. Switched the car off then back on again and the warning went off and everything back to normal for a few days..
Then same again, warning, limp mode - this is becoming more regular and is now happening every time I drive the car. It re-sets if car is turned off and back on but the fault soon reappears. I suspect it may be the EGR related but don't have a fault code reader, the on-board diagnostics just says 'engine fault'.
Can anyone recommend a code reader so I can get some clues as to what the problem may be ?

Thanks in advance for any information

Steve

Your problem may well be the MAF.

I've used one of these readers before, it worked fine at first but stopped after a while.

They seem to have got more expensive over the past couple of years, as they were under a fiver when I bought one.

Here's another, not tried it personally though, hopefully others will have suggestions too.

I used proscan obd2 Bluetooth socket and ‘car scanner’ app and works ok. Also used Streetwise OBDII car scanner. That also works ok.

Good point about the App, I used the Torque App which works fine for me. Car Scanner looks good & will give it a try at some point.

Thanks guys, I went for the Streetwise OBDII car scanner, £17 from Eurocarparts so not too bad at all.
Will try it today and hopefully get to the bottom of what's going on.
