EGR Regen question
#1
I had the engine management light come on just as I was taking the car for its MOT, no previous and all running ok.

The garage reset the engine management light and it hasn't turned on again (yet).

Garage think a new EGR could be on the horizon.

So to my question, I have read on here to do between 60 and 70 mph for at least 10 mins.

The nearest I can get to that is 5 mins on the A52 then onto the M1 via traffic lights for another 5 mins, would this break in speed stop the region ?

thanks

Maybe I understood it wrong, but there is no regen option for the EGR. The regen is only for the DPF.
If they have identified it correctly with an EGR malfunction, then it is worth cleaning it. If that does not work then it is a new EGR valve, unless you want to blank it of course.

Do you have the manual for the vehicle?  That should have a recommendation for how to do a dpf regen. I don't think it's exactly the same for all vehicles.  If you don't have the manual, a good blast up the motorway for 20-30 mins should cover it - I wouldn't be too mean with timing it to exactly 10 mins (and make sure the engine has reached full operating temperature beforehand).

Thanks, I was looking for that yesterday as I wondered if a 2009 engine would have a DPF.
