[SOLVED] Engine cover clips
#1
I bought some new engine cover clips, they f**ed off after 6 months.

I have read a few threads here about upgrading the clips, but all the links and pictures seem to be dead.

Does anyone have some advice on what I'd need to sort this out? Putting the cover in the garage is not an option, I don't have a garage!

Which engine clips are those? Is this the engine plastic cover or something else?

Get some M6 exhaust bobbins or anti vibration mounts and wing nuts to replace them.
So where does this bit go then ?

Yep, that's what I got for my 2.0 The engine cover was held on with a bungee when I bought the car.

Yeah saskak it's the plastic engine cover on top.

Thanks everyone, I'll give it a go with those.

Hmm, these are never subject to any force, apart from "slight" vibration from the engine. Do they break at the cover or the supporting rubber mounts perish? A picture is worth a thousand of word :-)

The original rubbers split and separated on mine then the half turn clips disappeared. When I got my rubbers they were about 70p each from the local car spares shop, shows how well they are lasting.
So where does this bit go then ?

I haven't been down to look at it yet but yeah I suspect the problem is with whatever holds the clips in. I fished one out of the engine bay and it was intact.

It's the little things that make a difference  Wink I ran mine without the cover for a while and it does stop a lot of engine noise.
So where does this bit go then ?
