[Engine] 1.6HDI ECU Fault
#1
Exclamation
Hi,

I have a 2006 1.6HDI which turns over on they key but refuses to start. I’ve spent some time researching the problem! Here is what I’ve done and what I know which hopefully someone here can shine some light on.

What I have done:

-new key fob battery
-fully charged car battery
-BSI reset

What I know:

The van beeps with the door open
The central locking works off the remote
ECO-MOD is displayed
Wiper stalk doesn’t work yet rear wiper activates when reconnecting battery. Lights and indicators work.

So I’ve had someone come out with diagnostics and discovered the ECU is locked. Further looking shows a fault with the injection according to Global Test, along with Display or Telematics and Radio Post Equipment. The Steering Module shows a ?.

Fault codes can’t be erased under Injection, asks for mileage which the software refuses any input.

So the ECU and BSI show as being matched yet under COM2000 it says the ECU is not recognised.

Looking through the Parameters and come by this,

So could this be a wiring fault somewhere? Key fob issue? I plugged a new COM2000 unit in without fitting it which made no difference. Any help would be very much appreciated.

The remote locking & immobiliser are separate systems, so it's possible that the locking will work while the key won't start the engine.
Have you tried re-adding the key(s) via Lexia / Diagbox?

You will need PIN code and Lexia to fix locked ECU.

Here is some info on locked ECU:

Good point re the PIN code, I forgot to mention that in my post about adding keys. If you don't have the code, you can get it from Citroen / Peugeot dealers for about £20

The code is normally provided on a card along with the key number as part of the handbook pack but is often lost.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I will take a look at the link and go from there. Many thanks!

Just remembered that these people sell unlocked ECU's and are very helpful generally..
