How to tell if my B9 has a DPF?

Hi folks,

I'm trying to order up some parts for one of our fleet vans, a 2010 plate 1.6 diesel Berlingo and I'm not sure if the wagon has a DPF filter or not. The once or twice times I was under the bonnet on her, I can't say if I saw one sticking out at me but I wouldn't know what exactly to look for either and all's fairly squeezed in under there!

I have the VIN and reg (was NI reg, now on Irish plates)... is there anyway to tell from these or will I just have to wait until she gets back to the yard and crawl under her?

If you look at the front of your engine, find the turbo, and it should sit below it under a heat shield. A large bore thingy with two small metal pipes coming out of it and the exhaust pipe at the bottom

Mine is a 2010 B9 and it has it.

Citroen call it a particle filter

I've had a look at the link re. the C4 but the B9HT variant (which is in our 75bhp) isn't listed and looking around elsewhere, there is next to no mention of a B9HT variant of these engines!

I've only just done the filters and while I didn't remove the heatshield, I don't think there's a DPF underneath. I recall now hunting in the same location on the previous 1.6 90bhp model and it wasn't present either. I'll check again tomorrow and while I'm at it, I'll see can I get an exact stamp from the engine to confirm or deny that it's a 9HT

No, there's no certainly no AdBlue system on this vehicle but I do recall that some of the previous gen engines had  DPF's long before urea additives became popular so I'm guessing this is still the case with the B9's.. no additives, only DPF.. or no DPF as the case may be!

No, I'd be pretty confident that there's no fluid / additive system on this variant as we've a good 30k driven on this van without any warnings, there's no mention of additives in the handbook, no spout for filling and neither the previous owner or the service history mentioned any additives.

I still haven't got a chance to go rooting and stripping to see once and for all if there is or isn't a DPF on her but I'll get there! I do suspect there's an EGR on it's way out though based on some codes pulled from her recently so we'll be under the bonnet again soon enough no doubt!

Wow.. never knew that! I mistakenly thought all these emissions systems were AdBlue based, which I'm all too familiar with from our trucks.

There's over 180k miles on her now. I'll try get her over the pit this weekend and have a nosey
