Hello Everyone
I am new to this forum so sorry if I have posted in the wrong section.
I have two error codes P0299 & P242F
P0299 Charge Pressure Regulation: Air Pressure Below The Reference Value
P0242F: Particle Filter: Detected Clogged
As for P0299 I am looking for leaks in the air Intake System and as for the P)242F I believe that the DPF needs a clean ?
Also I have read many times that the EGR valve could be an issue. I have seen many videos of mechanics taking the EGR valve out of the engine for cleaning, theses are on the right hand side of the engine underneath the Fuel Filter. I believe that my EGR valve is on the left side of the engine behind the fuel filter.
My Vehicle is a Citroen Berlingo 1.6HDi Variant 7B9HN
any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

Which year and what model is the 1.6HDi Berlingo? As far as I know, all 1.6HDi have the EGR valve under or kind of behind the fuel filter on the right side of the engine (looking on top of the engine). Can you take a picture of the engine?
The P0299 seems like underboost, so it could be a non-functioning wastegate or stuck turbo solenoid at the back of the engine and/or vacuum hose or split intercooler hose, etc.
Cannot comment on the DPF as mine does not have one.

Hi Saskak
Thank you for your prompt reply, My Vehicle is a Citroen Berlingo 1.6l HDi 2011 Variant 7B9HN.
last night I took my van to my mates garage to undergo some tests. As regards the underboost he did a smoke test , testing the Intake side of the engine for any leaks and none where found. Also as regards to the DPF clogging he previously fitted a oil catch can from the PCV valve output on the rocker cover which goes to the intake pipe that feeds the Turbo. He has done this because he noticed slightly excessive oil around the Turbo intake, placing the oil catch can would allow the oil to drop in to the can and the output less the oil then feeds back in to the intake system. After 500 miles there was no oil around the turbo intake it had dried up this proved that the oil was being pulled in to the turbo.
His theory is that the oil was being sucked through the turbo and then eventually being burned off through the DPF settling as ash. The readings on his equipment showed that there was high Ash/Cinder content and the soot would be burnt off during regens.
So next week he will be cleaning my DPF with the machine he has:
Discover our DPF cleaning machines prices - Oxyhtech
Once the DPF as been cleaned he will take off my Turbo and I will take it to a company that he uses and trusts to test the Turbo for low output. At one time he did mention that the gasses coming out of the PCV valve on the rocker cover could be due to back pressure from leaky oil catch rings around the pistons but the fact that my van never burns any oil or no blue smoke or any smoke for that matter is being omitted from the exhaust he ruled it out.
Anyway onwards and upwards and once again thank you for your reply.
T Robbo

Good tests. I do not have much experience with DPFs, but if it is clogged it is either somesort of cleaning, forced regeneration, or a new one.
The underboost, it is good that none of the hoses leak, so you can rule that one out. If it is the 90bhp (fixed geometry turbo) you could look into the wastegate operation and the vacuum hoses to the turbo wastegate, but if it is the 110 and above (VNT turbo) then it might be the exhaust side nozzles.
Take all this with a pinch of salt. Why was it spewing so much oil from the crankcase breather or maybe it was not that much? Oil catch can would certainly help with that, but if it was really a lot of oil then you would have seen quite a bit of oil captured by the oil catch can and the need to top up oil regularly. How much oil were you topping up between services?

Hi
Between services I've never had to top up the oil that's what's strange. As for the wastegate he did have me rev up the van so he could watch the wastegate link moving in and out and it was. Not sure if it was moving within the correct parameters but I'm sure the guys who are going to test my Turbo will let me know. There wasn't much oil in the can, not yet anyway, but the pipes I used where clear but now you can see they are black with oil.

It seems you have covered pretty much all bases. I would say to read the boost level from an OBDII scanner, air flow (MAF), EGR position, etc., and see what you get. It could be an intermittent fault rather than permanent.
If there is a wastegate it is likely to be the 90bhp and the EGR is just under the fuel filter.
