I was looking through my handbook last night (yeah I know,but I've finished the latest Jack Reacher novel) and saw in some of the pictures that on some models there is a cubby hole under the boot floor.
Now obviously it's not on mine (2010 XTR) as I have a full size spare wheel,and it's not going to be on the 7-seater version either,so I was wondering if anyone here has the cubby hole?
Perhaps it's on cars ordered without the spare wheel (mine was a €50 option) and the boot floor pan is different,though I can't see that being the case.
Maybe it's on the van?

On the 7-seater, there's a cubby hole under the boot floor. The boot floor is raised a couple of inches to provide mounting points for the seats. Between the front and back mounting points the floor has a full-width cubby hole. Perfect for a stash of brollies and trekking poles. It comes with a styrofoam liner, but I've taken that out to give a bit more volume.
And along the back is a cubby hole specifically for the roller blind-type boot cover.
Spare wheel is underneath the car, or at least it is on the VTR. Its a pretty standard Citroen thing. Does the XTR have it inside?

My understanding is that it is included on the '7 seaters' and raises the third row so that they can see and be seen.
Perhaps an owner of a 7 seater can confirm this.
Also you say . . .
you had to purchase a spare wheel - did the car normally come with a puncture repair outfit?

I wish the 5 seater had that cubby hole as mine is lacking in that area- space for cleaning stuff etc. Also, is it possible to fit the roller type boot cover to the five seater ? Would be easier to access the boot area, methinks.

Right,that's solved that then.
So when you take all the seats out you have a lip between the second and third row on the floor.Mine is flat right the way through.
The spare wheel is under the car on mine too
Extra space for storage would have been handy though.

When I ordered the car they asked me if I wanted a spare wheel,I thought,of course I want a spare wheel,what a stupid question!
Then the salesman said that it would be a €50 option,I thought,WHAT!
Anyway,if you don't have the spare,then they put one of those aerosol puncture repair kits in the car instead,but I didn't fancy that,so I opted to have the spare.
The salesman then went on to tell me that the spare is a full size Michelin the same that's on the rest of the car,and some customers had ordered four of them.
The cunning swines had realised that four new Michelins complete with wheels was a bargain at €200!
But then Citroen in Belgium realised and stopped it.
Is the spare a standard fit in the UK then?

It does mean the people in the very back have a bit of leg space. Many other occasional 7-seaters basically have you sitting on the floor. Fine for small children, but uncomfortable otherwise. An adult can sit in the berlingo no problem. But I wouldn't recommend a long trip like that.

As far as I can tell, yes. They'll offer to sell you a security system to lock the wheel to the car, as its quite common for citroen spares to go walkies.

yeh I had the custom lock on mine, theiving hands always around in Britain.....better than working your balls off, just go and nick a few things to sell.....now that could catch on big time....
If I read thread right the only problem with 7 seater then is you dont have a fully flat floor which in 5 seater you do get, this makes a loveley base for double mattress to sleep on.
Like all things in life choices choices choices.....

What does the security lock look like and where does it fit?
I didn't realise how vulnerable the spare is,I thought it would be pretty secure seeing as how you have to unwind it from inside the tailgate.

Bolt cutters will get through the cage. Not really a problem if you've got steel wheels like I have. Is the spare on a car with alloys fitted also an alloy wheel?
as I understand it, its a bolt that goes through the car floor and a plate that fits on the spare wheel. Or you could get a length of chain wrapped round the wheel and onto something solid.
