Drivers window only works once
#1
I have developed a strange fault with the drivers window, If you turn the ignition on and don't touch the drivers window switch straight away, the window will not work, either up or down. However if I use the window as soon as I turn the ignition on it will work, but only once, for example if it's closed I can get it to go down (partially or all the way), but if I stop and try and move the window again, either up or down, it won't work. If I then turn the ignition off and on again, and go straight for the window switch, it will work again, but only once as before.

The window will close on its own went using the fob to auto close it and the passenger window is absolutely fine. Doesn't sound like a power issue to me. I did find one post which looked to have the same symptoms as mine, but with no resolution.

Any ideas?

Similar thing happened on my M59, but only in cold weather! I think it's the window regulator controller, not sure where it's located on the B9 tho.

Weird electric window faults can sometimes be rectified with a BSI reset. If you search the forum you can find out how to do the BSI reset correctly [make sure you follow the details exactly]

OK, Ive done a BSI reset procedure and the window still behaves incorrectly, is it worth doing another reset or does this rule out that cause?

No, that rules out the reset.
