Bought a clean well looked after with good history 04plate Pug Escapade 2.0HDI, 83k miles. Will be used for mountain bike road trips and dog duties.
I spanner our own cars and also run a 2004 Volvo V70 with 200k miles and a Mk4 Golf PD again with 200k miles.
The Partner-Bingo is replacing the Golf when its MOT expires in a few weeks so is having a general once over/major service / Dinitrol rust proofing before being pressed into service!
So far I'm enjoying it's ownership, it's easy to work on, OEM/decent brand parts are cheap and there is a good owners forum with lots of information!

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've got a good low mileage vehicle that should be good for many years - they're willing workhorses and should suit your needs better than the Golf. What's the situation with the cambelt?

Timing belt and water pump have been done in the last few years along with back axle, clutch and very recent full set of Continental tires. Big wodge of receipts and invoices with the car. The last female owner only had it 6months which set alarm bells ringing why they sold it on so quick. Everything was okay on a test drive and the 50mile journey home apart from what I presumed was a failed / clonky top strut bearing (turned out to be a broken spring) and bottom ball joint was MOT advisory last time. I chipped the dealer down enough to cover the cost of parts and I've stripped the front end off both sides and replaced both top strut bearings, wishbones, CV boots, gearbox output seals, track rod ends and the broken spring. Whilst in bits it gives opportunity to clean and check the front suspension turret areas, apply some zinc epoxy and plenty of Dinitrol.
I don't like changing cars and aim to keep them as long as possible. I spent 6months earlier this year doing a rebuild on our Volvo so it's good for another 200k miles. Hopefully this Partner/Bingo serves us as well !
