Loosing charge on a regular basis.

Hey guys...new to the forum but looking to see if anyone has had the same problem as me and if they found a solution.
I have a 2016 Berlingo Feel Blue and my story starts with a dead battery! I bought a new one and a few weeks later its drained so I get a new alternator fitted! Now my car lasts a couple of weeks at most then the battery is down to 11 volts or under and ready to fail to start  the car unless I top up with a charger.  Once topped up it works fine for a couple of weeks then i can feel a week start so I top the battery up again. Absolutely zero fault codes and sitting with new battery and new alternator now so totally stumped to why my battery is not keeping a 12.6 v charge!  Anyone had the same problem?  Thanks in advance for ant help.  Andy

Welcome.

I suggest checking that the battery is getting charged by testing with a multimeter while the engine is running, you should see about 14v DC. IIRC the battery positive terminal on the B9 is not visible, but there's a positive for charging / jump start point somewhere.

Have a look at both of the battery connections and clean with wire wool/metal pot scourer and also find and clean the main earth connection to the body/engine.
You might also be draining the battery overnight by something drawing current - when you re-attach the battery leads look for sparking ( there may normally be a little ) - which would show that something is eating your electricity.

This happened to me on my M49 shortly after I bought it in 2001 - the battery kept going totally dead overnight. The dealer said it was the radio drawing off charge, so they fitted a new one under warranty, but it still occurred so they replaced the BSI, but it still occurred, so I just stopped using the radio and the problem stopped. Not an ideal solution and we never got to the bottom of the problem, though at the time it didn't seem a big deal to me to not use the radio, and that was certainly preferable to faffing around with the dealer and yet still coming out to a dead van every morning.

I had exactly this problem, turns out there is a free software upgrade as a recall from the dealer.

Been fine now for a year.

Thanks for your reply. I have pretty much accepted it must be a power drain somewhere thats causing the problem as all the rest of the suggestions that you guys have made I have pretty much tried and checked. I have been solving the problem by giving the battery an hour or twos boost every sunday and this seems to do the trick.   Thought that the cheaper option to putting into a dealer and being charged a fortune for a diagnostic.  ( My own guy having already plugged it in and found no errors!)     Thanks to everyone for your help.

call your dealer and ask them to perform the free recalls, especially the ECU update to cure the alternator not charging.
