1.6 petrol, thermostathousing leak?
#1
Hi!

I got a 1.6 petrol Berlingo from 2005 with the thermostat housing in “aluminum”, not plastic. This leaks, can I buy the plastic thermostat housing or doesn’t it fit?

I know the 1.4 petrol had a metal housing and on later models it changed to plastic so I cannot see it being a problem on the 1.6. Find a picture of the housing and compare it against yours for bolt spacings and oil/water galleries.
Are we there yet????? Huh

Ok! The thing is that the thermostat is located in the plastic housing and my is located where the house connects to the housing if that make sense.

This is how the original part looks like on my car: https://www.bildelsbasen.se/img/a/a/a/dc.../_lock.jpg

And this is the part that fits from end of 2005 and newer cars: https://az768999.vo.msecnd.net/images/pr...arge_0.jpg

In the first picture that is like yours there is a part number cast in the body, have you stuck that in google or try CatCar.info with your vin number.

I just change my Ali housing etc on my 1.4 and drip drip drip…it was the new black thermostat housing leaking from the body not the flange hairline crack in the plastic so I  refitted old housing cured it immediately
