How often do you wash yours?
#1
My beloved black XTR is looking in a very sorry state at the moment as I have not been able to wash it since the end of November.

After being in hospital for a knee replacement op and still finding it very difficult, and painful to get about,I am looking forward to getting out there to wash and wax it and have it looking shiny and pristine once again.

Since I've had the car I have only used AutoGlym shampoo and high-def wax on it to keep it looking good, and use a soft micro-fibre hand-mit to wash it.
I would never run it through an automatic carwash,I've seen what they do to gloss black paintwork on my old Range-Rover!
There are some places here that offer a hand wash, but I'm not sure about that either, and I don't even trust my missus to wash it!

So,I sit here and wait.

Well I don't wash mine by hand. Take it to a "soft brush" place locally. In winter once a month including the underside wash. In summer about every six weeks.

"As and when required", did it last time probably about August and she is due now but too cold today.... Normally use Carplan or similar shampoo/wax and finish off with MER polish on a micro-fibre cloth.

Remember the old saying "New cars should not need cleaning and old cars are not worth cleaning"....

Try to wash mine 52 times a year.
Have been known to wash it twice a week.
Would be embarrased to drive it dirty, after all you wouldn't go out in dirty clothes. (Would you?)
It has been a 'tradition' to wash my car/van on Boxing Day. It is a great way of clearing the head and working off the Turkey!
Have washed it with snow on the ground and late at night under floodlights.
Always wash it before a service/repair and ALWAYS before the MOT.

I wash mine about every 3 weeks. Tell me about your knee replacement XTR, if you don't mind because I think mines going that way. I've got mild arthritis in my left knee at moment, pain comes & goes. How long was your knee bad before you needed a replacement? I hope it improves soon, good luck with it.

Only wash mine when it looks dirty. I did it with Diamondbrite when it was new, and a dose of conserver now and then has kept it really well. When my new car turns up I will do it the same, it works for me.
