Diagbox/diesel additive

Hey all.
Recently refilled my diesel additive fluid on my Berlingo, but now learned after research that I need to tell the ECU that’s it’s been refilled?

Any recommendations on a diagbox or pp2000 to do this?

If it's adBlue we're talking about then I've not needed to tell my Berlingo anything. I switched it off, parked it on a level spot and just filled it up. Next time it started, the dreaded warning of impending forced switch off had gone.
On a previous Berlingo van, I had the other type of additive but never needed to refill. I did notice some form of reset in Diagbox, but it's a long time ago, so I'll make way for someone with up to date knowledge.

The later euro 6 models are equipped with both AdBlue and diesel (FAP) additive.

Which one are we talking about?

I don't know where to post this question... But is there a diesel additive i can use to help fuel economy? My berlingo is 21 years old and has 166,000 [ish] miles on the clock she's been serviced every 10,000 mile for the last 6 years i've had her. Any help appreciated.

Hi Berlinda, it's best to start a thread of your own, in the appropriate section which for your vehicle is the M49 area. Generally if it's a diesel, then there are some cleaners available like Redex, Wynn's injector cleaner etc which may help, their efficiency is generally 50-50 on opinion as to whether they work, or not.

My take on it is, Redex Diesel is pretty good, as is Wynns stuff - with the following caveat - if you need it, then it should help. If you didn't need it, then it will likely do nothing. That's to say if the system is full of wax and deposits, then it might produce a noticeable difference. If everything is still relatively clean, then it would not do much at all.

My quick example, I had a Honda Legend V6 3.2 24v motor which was really tickety-tappety when cold and even warm there was a noticable ticking at idle. The car was a beater, so I put a bottle of Wynns hydraulic tappet treatment in (which goes in the oil filler hole unlike fuel treatments), and it ran like silk after a couple of miles and never looked back.

Second time was a Subaru twin-turbo legacy which failed emissions at the MOT, I put a bottle of Wynns Emissions Pass in the tank and gave it a good run, turned up for the re-test MOT and it flew the emissions test. I did nothing else in between.

Just my personal experience. I find the Citroen diesels to run smoother and quieter with Redex Diesel in the tank, but I dose the tank with a full bottle to a full tank. 5th Gear did a rolling road test once on an old VW Sirocco VR6 trying Redex treatment etc and it did seem to return a lot of the lost power.

Opinions will differ - worth a shot for a fiver though.

Pure anecdotes now but I used Miller's ECOMAX for a while and ran out, so went without for a few tanks.

Each time I was using cheap supermarket diesel, which supposedly has the bare minimum in additives etc.

I noticed a slight decrease in MPG over long trips, and the engine was quite a bit lumpier especially from cold.

Recently went back to putting Miller's in again and it's all good.
