[Engine] Which timing belt for my 1.6 petrol?
#1
Hi!

I got a problem, i got a 2005 Berlingo Multispace with the 1.6 petrol.

I need to change the timingbelt but have two options:

One is: to engine number 1806404
One is: from engine number 1806405

I think i found the engine number on the block reading: 306600 but that dont match any of the numbers above.

Can someone help me?

I had the same problem with my 2007 Peugeot 307 1.6 petrol (same engine). I can find my engine number tomorrow as I cannot go to the car now. I bought the Gates KP15581XS timing belt kit with the whole set with the water pump, etc. from autodoc. Fitted perfectly. I vaguely remember that my engine number was somewhat similar to yours, way too short of the numbers.

EDIT:
The belt is the same in both, only the pulleys are different!
engine N since 1806405 is belt for example Gates 5581XS (PSA part N 0831R9) Gates kit K025581XS
engine N till 1806404 is belt for example Gates 5581XS (PSA part N 0831V1) Gates kit K015581XS

I think I bought the kit and everything was fine, apart from the roller/guide pulley which was totally different (a few mm wider) and I had to buy it separately.

Hello Johan I diddn't see you were located in Sweden, apologies !

In the UK the V5 is the vehicle registration document that contains details of the registered keeper, the vehicle chassis number / VIN number and also the engine number.

Yes! I saw this about the pulleys! What should I do? Haha

Even if you have to buy the guide pulley separately, as I did, it was only ~£14.

I managed to check my engine N. It is A1433039 (photo attached)
Higher than yours, but below the first given in the numbers.
I bought the set below the 1806404 (Gates KP15581XS). The tensioner and the belt were spot on, only the roller was not. I bought the TINA roller, similar to this febi one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234224759437
The ebay roller was specific to my car, but yours might be ok with the original Gates (or other) sets.
