Why doesn't my radio stalk work?
#1
2004 Partner Escapade 2.0HDI aka Berlingo, standard radio.
Everything else electrically works okay but the entire radio stalk doesn't work at all. I've had the steering column cowling off and the indicator stalk unit has 'Dispatch' written in 'van breakers' yellow pen and is dated 2012. Couldn't see anything amiss.

Looking on eBay the radio stalk/indicator/light stalk/comms unit looks identical between most PSA of the era.
Would a replacement radio stalk need coding in to work?

I'm not going to bother removing the steering wheel and sourcing an actual Berlingo unit but it would be nice to have it working!

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they are all the same from the same era, but 2012 is not quite in the same era as 2004 in terms of model changes. Any stalk up to ~2008 should do the the trick. I do not know much about the radio stalk, so there could be something else preventing it to work. AFAIK it is plug and play, no need for coding.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll leave it for now but if the Dispatch comms unit fails at some point I'll source an earlier replacement.

The radio stalk is modular & can be removed / replaced on it's own, same as the Cruise Control stalk on the other side, but as Saskak says above it may be the actual Com2000 unit that houses the stalks that is a bit new for your Partner.

Sorry - I forgot to mention; the car is new to me - Ive only had it a few weeks but noticed this when I was buying the car and thought it might have been an easy fix!

A radio stalk is fairly cheap to buy on ebay. Of course it depends on if you want to do it, but for the price you could replace it and see if it solves it. Easy to remove and stick the new one in.

Yep, I'd start with the stalk and see if it works.

Plenty on ebay for £10, maybe it's a common problem.

As with the MFD & Cruise Control stalks, there are some different part numbers & they are normally the same item, but cannot promise.
