1.6i 16v, transmission oil leak?
#1
Hi!

I got a 2005 Petrol 1.6.
It leaks very little from center of bell housing. Can the drive shaft seal leak into the bell housing causing this or is there a seal in the transmission itself behind the bearing? Is this common?

Depends whether the oil dripping out is engine oil or transmission oil - the crank seal at the flywheel might leak and the input shaft seal in the gearbox might leak - both will end up dribbling into the bell-housing and out of the lowest point. Either would be a major job to sort out, so if the leak is not significant, best left alone!
Transmission oil is often smelly - so that might help to identify the source.
