Bonnet edge flexible seal, what material is used?

Hi All,

As per the title, do you know what is the flexible and pretty hard material that is used on the inner (front) edge of the bonnet?

I have a slight surface rust just under the seal and in order for this not to grow I have to address it. I was planning on cutting half of it, sand/prime/paint and apply a similar seal. Seems like Sikaflex 221 could be applied, but was wondering if there is something else.

Good suggestion, although I never had any luck whenever I contacted them.
