Adblue fault P20E8
#1
Hi All,

I had a quick search on this fault code but can find results for it? Last night we had an audible warning along with emissions fault displayed on the dash display. This was accompanied by the adblue light and the service light. Took the car home and drove it to the garage this morning and now the urea light is flashing and it’s coming up with engine fault and the EML.

I read the codes from my cheap scanner and it’s giving us the P20E8 fault code searching on google this appears to be an adblue pump pressure issue. I’m just wondering if anyone can confirm this or knows anything about it. Car drives fine otherwise no other issues or noises from it except it says 700 miles to go for the adblue not 1500??

The car is a taxi and has 340k on it I still have two years left on the license to go but thinking it may be time to call it a day with it.

Thanks

A very common problem. The dealer replaces the AdBlue tank because the pump is built into it and cannot be replaced separately. The cost is quite high...

Hi Buki,

Thanks for your reply. So you think it’s just the tank even though it’s sending different messages regards to engine faults and emissions faults? Also is it worth purchasing a second hand one from eBay or do you think brand new is best?

Thanks

I had an engine light and a urea light both when there was this fault.

Yes that’s the same ones but now the urea light is flashing but last night it was solid. The garage have also said that based on the Citroen documents pertaining to the code that the tank cap should be replaced but that was done a few years ago. Second to that they say the notes are saying to replace the tank as you said. I’m just waiting on a price from them and to see if they are able to do the job as a non Citroen garage. I called Citroen earlier and they said it don’t have to be coded but needs initialised. Not sure if this is right as a lot of the posts I’ve seen searching on google suggests it needs coded using Lexia diagbox.

FITTING ADVICE REQUIRED

Hi all,

So after the garage confirming that it appears to be the tank we are on the hunt for the best deal to fit one possible. I’m looking to see if anyone has advice on the fitting of these tanks. Do they need to be coded or is it plug initialise and drive away???

Citroen wether they don’t want to tell me or actually unsure say it does not need to be coded. I mentioned the garage done a NOx sensor on it ages ago and they are saying if it can reset after the NOx sensor being fitted it should deal with the tank ok.

I have no idea if this is a correct assumption or just made up. The issue here is that to go to Citroen I would be required to pay full cost but also none of the local dealerships have space before the end of this month to work on it. My usual garage can fit it at the start of next week and with it being a taxi we need it back ASAP.

Also I found it at a very reasonable price compared to what the garage and the dealerships are quoting to buy it from them. I found a listing from neo brothers by entering the part number in to google. They are a mini place but it appears the minis have the PSA engine in them too. Just looking to see if anyone has dealt with them before.

The parts listing is located at the following address;

https://www.neobrothers.co.uk/car-parts/...9818531680

Any help or advice would be helpful as if the current garage fits it to find out it needs coded them it would still need to go to Citroen. To allow that to happen I would then need to pay additional transport costs to get it transferred as I’m assuming it wouldn’t drive.

Thanks
