Hi,
I have a 2020 Berlingo and I find that I am having to 'slam' the tailgate shut in order to close it properly. Normally that wouldn't be a problem but I have 2 dogs who get really frightened by the noise of the slamming door. It is still under the garage guarantee but they told me that there is no adjustment possible to make the closing easier.
Has anyone else had this problem or if so, have they managed to solve it? Thanks.

Hi
I have a 2018 K9 XTR which had the same issue. There are indeed adjustments that can be made. On each side there is an adjustable buffer, these are half way up the body opening. There is also the standard latch hook in the centre at floor level. This can be moved every which way.
I tackled the issue by firstly moving the side buffers right in, so they were well out of the way. Then I loosened the centre hook and just kept on moving it right and left, testing after each movement, until the latch engaged without pulling the tailgate either left or right. Then having marked the position I moved the hook in and out until the tailgate was a nice snug fit.
Finally I adjusted the side buffers until they prevented good closure, then backed off a few millimetres.
I now have a tailgate that closes fully every time, but still with a bit of a 'bang', not sure you would ever manage to close it quietly or gently.

There should be adjustment on the part of the latch attached to the body, loosen the screws (probably torx bolts) holding it and move it till the door latches easier then tighten them back up or get the dogs some earmuffs.
So where does this bit go then ?

We've found on ours there is a definite technique for closing. If you push it and let it go to close on the gas struts it rarely works - I think it may bound back off the rubber stoppers. We close ours py pushing and holding gentle pressure on the plastic base of the rear wiper. Works for us and doesn't scare the dogs!

Try closing it with a window or door open. That seems to make it much easier and require less of a slam.
