Have you done so before / where did you get the parts?
cheers.
Yes, I've replaced a few microswitches over the years on various remote fobs, some more fiddley than others.
Ebay is the easiest place to get the parts, just search for " Citroen key microswitch " you'll find them for a couple of quid, you can also get new cases for your key if the rubber buttons on yours are worn out.
There's some good videos on youtube of people replacing the switches.

Nobody has mentioned the locking button on the dash. If that locks and unlocks the car properly then the BSI relays are doing their job, and it's probably the remote.

Yes, that's a good point! I didnt think of that (and yes they are).
I'll need to get the key apart and go from there.
Thanks.

Have you tested the remote yet? . . . it's only a 2 minutes job to open the key and short out the micro switch.

Sorry for the delay (without making a long story, in the meantime, I underwent some eye surgery, which has had complications.
Anyway, just opened the key and the problem (or part of the problem) is self evident!
I've taken a photo if someone can tell me how to add it here please...I can see the insert an image but was hoping for a "paste" option!
Basically, as I opened the key, a piece fell out - one of the micro switches. To try to describe it, the 'base' (the piece which is soldered into the circuit board) is still in place. the switch piece has separated (it is approx 6mm x 3mm) it has the 'button' for the switch on the upper side. The underside is black plastic.
I'm unclear how it should be fixed - is it repairable (ie can it be attached, does anyone know)?
All credit to those who have un-soldered/replaced the whole switch - it is tiny. The other switch (unlocking looks easier) the locking switch appears to have 4 tiny legs? Gulp!
I'll go and see if holding it in place manually does anything...
