Hi there
I've tried a search but cant see this problem - appreciate any help please. I have a 2006 Multispace, and the remote key has stopped locking the car. Otherwise is fine - the unlocking remote works fine and the car can be locked using the key in the drivers door lock and it starts/runs fine.
Have tried a new battery as a simple 'fingers crossed' but no difference and the removed battery showed correct volatge.
Is there anything I can test / clean for example?
And if its just broken, what are the best options for a replacement pls
Cheers.

There has been a thread about this very problem over the last month I think and the problem turned out to be a relay on the BSI unit that needed replacing if I remember correctly. Have a search on the forum or perhaps one of the other users can remember the said thread.
Are we there yet?????

I would want to rule out a defective micro switch in the remote fob before diving into the BSI.

Thanks all. Just to confirm - it is locking as usual when the key is used in the door and also unlocking as usual (either by key or) using the remote function.
The BSIs are new to me (and does look quite an undertaking) and I was planning to start with the key - since it "appears" localised the the locking function on the remote.
Anyone have experience with that (and if it is the remote that's faulty) what options I have pls?
thanks again

Have you got a spare key which you could try. This may narrow down the diagnosis.

If you open the key and remove the circuit board you can test to see if the microswitch is defective, to do this use a straightened out paperclip or similar and short out the 2 soldered contacts of the micro switch where they contact the circuit board, if the car locks it's either a dry solder joint or the microswitch is knackered and will need replacing.
Replacing / re-soldering a microswitch is a bit fiddley as the components are small but it's quite doable by anyone who has a bit of soldering experience.

Thanks, I'm reasonably competent with a soldering iron (many moons ago trained as a technician with BT) so I'd be up for giving it a go - I'll test it.
Have you done so before / where did you get the parts?
cheers.
