Rear wheel bearing advice please.
#1
The off side rear wheel bearing on my van is "rumbling". There is no excess play just the rumbling noise when the wheel is rotated.

Searching the internet it appears replacement bearings are available for as little as £16/£17. However a replacement wheel bearing kit to include hub are available for around £30. To me the replacement kit including the hub is a no brainer as it saves trying to find someone/somewhere to get the old bearing pressed out and the new bearing pressed in.

My query is and I might be slightly dense here  Blush but internet searches are listing two options for my van. 1 with ABS and 1 without ABS, I understand the difference is the reluctor ring on the hub......................but how do I find out if my van has ABS to ensure I order the right one?

Many thanks in anticipation Wink

When you turn on the ignition all of the dash warning lights should light up, some of them go out after a second or two, look to see if you have one that says ABS.

Lift the bonnet and look behind the battery towards the bulk head, if you see a square block shape with a lot of pipes going into it, that is the ABS pump as they call it.

Many thanks jj9 for your reply Big Grin

No ABS light illuminated on the dash. No square shaped block near the battery either ( see attached photo taken short while ago ).

Have a look over the back axle does it have a rear brake proportioning valve block with a big spring ? If it does it's not ABS
So where does this bit go then ?

Two photos taken this morning. One shows a brake block at the rear of the van. The other shows the back of the rear wheel.

I can see no wires or cables going to the back of the rear wheel, so I am kind of assuming there is no sensor fitted so this means no ABS Huh

Yes, I'll go along with it NOT having ABS.

I have ordered a none ABS wheel bearing kit from off the internet, I could go local but all the prices are around £20+ more expensive ( with cheaper options currently out of stock )

Yes, if you don't need the parts in a hurry ordering online can save you a good few quid.

Give that brake valve block a bit of lubrication while you're at it, they have a habit of seizing up.
