Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help. The steering rack on my Berlingo has gone and I'm trying to source a new one. Twice I've ordered the part that breakers have been adamant is the right on, and they haven't fitted!
I have a 2006 berlingo desire, 1.6cc petrol. I've been told I'm looking for a 'Mag 1' and have been given the part number '1617935480' with one of two marking numbers (60DHXU or 60DHJP) but when I quoted that to a breakers they said the number wasn't on their computer system, and never heard of a part needing a marking number.
So, it's proving a little tricky to find the part! I was just wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that may have it/be of help, or if I have the correct information, or if anyone has any other suggestions!
Thanks!

Can I ask what you mean by the rack is gone?
What is the problem with it?

I've been told it's broken by my garage. I'm not 100% sure, it's in the garage, and they said it's broken. I think one of the bolts that holds it together has sheered off, so it can't be reconnected. And there's something wrong with the ram, it didn't move how it should. But I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it.

Ok got you.
Using catcar (link in cancunia's post) I believe the part number to be
4000 KP

I know it's not local to you but this place rebuilt my Volvo steering rack. It's a one man band place but I was impressed with his setup and workshop. My Volvo rack has been faultless since.

Thank you jj9 and cancunia, that's been really helpful, I would never have found that part information or number. Hopefully, I can get hold of one now!
Kyleonsite, I didn't know these could be rebuilt, thanks for the info and the link, I'll look into that too.
Thanks again.

You probably realise this but the ram won't come with a reconditioned rack, so if there's a problem with the ram you will have to address that separately.
You can find reconditioned racks on ebay that seem reasonably priced ....
