(Borrowed picutre from the internet)

I wish to put 2/4 SS M6or8 rivinuts in this area, is it safe enough to drill there or am I asking for trouble?

The purpose is to secure a jerry can in that area (10/15L water). I'd hoped they'd be some tie down point or existing bolts but it seems lacking anywhere to tie into/bracket off. There is the right hand anchor point but its not quite where I need it to be.

If you remove the black blanking plugs you may be able to see into the area where you want to drill your holes. If not then feel with you hands .

I think you'll be OK because you are drilling above the tyre line and into a space where a rivet nut will not interfere with anything . Be gentle when you drill and don't hit the inside of the outer panel.

Isn't the fuel tank in that general area?
I think you'll need to take a look under to verify.
