The VM will still be win7 32 so it's academic really. The task is the same. Versions above 7.63 / 65 / 68 are not much use as they go way beyond the B9's year range and most config functions were moved online, but being hacked software, online will never work..in fact if it sees the internet at all during use, it will normally get  locked and become useless, sending your install  back to the drawing board. It can also (and will) brick a Chinese clone Lexia interface if you go to v8.00 or later.

Edit: My personal favourite was 7.62 which is the one I'd recommend.

And put Diagbox in the search box - read some of the threads. Gets you in a better position to install and use it.

Well, the "garage" this morning failed to sort it. He said it wanted "permission" from Citroen to change the Vin. I suspect he was in the wrong place, and not in the radio configuration.

Sounds like they don't have a subscription to use all the functionality of the real DiagBox from Citroen. That is a security function so probably needs the higher level of approval, usually granted if you have the official version and an active subscription.

Is their copy a pirate one too I wonder...

This is exactly the issue using the later ones from the internet and having the net connected. They need permission from the PSA servers, which won't be obtained without a subscription.

By the way, the stereo in a B9 is a large part of the control system and is matched to the BSI in the same way the immobiliser is. You can't just swap them out for another B9 one from another car without these issues.

Right, he wouldn't let me watch him, perhaps because he didn't want me to see what he was using. They did tell me over the phone that they only had an old version, but who knows.

I have to admit I'm gobsmacked its proving so hard to find someone in Cornwall who can do this.
I guess the cheapest option is for me to remove the LCD panel from the "New" unit and fit it to my old one. (as a broken screen was my issue).
The old radio though was crap at picking up DAB channels, while this one picks them up fine.
I'll have to think about it.

Or put up with the beeps, or buy the kit from eBay and set about installing it on the old w7 laptop. It's a chore but just follow every single step in the included instructions (as it's pirated it needs these steps followed through to work) and give it a try. Not much to lose mate. Normally includes a video (in Chinese) that shows the install steps.

Ok so like the rest of us, get Diagbox and get it working! Hopefully you can recode the unit to your VIN.
