Hello from France

Hello all. I had a Citroen Dispatch (English name) Jumpy (French name) for 12 years. Apart from the fact that it was a van (lots of rattling noises and no back seats) and it was RHD (distinct disadvantage now I've retired to France), it proved an incredibly reliable workhorse over the years and completely converted me to Citroens.

Last year I used the arrival of two grandchildren as an excuse to say goodbye to the Jumpy (now driven by friends who have just had to replace the original exhaust - not bad eh?) and hello to a lovely new Berlingo. It was sold as a 'Collection' model, but I think it is simply a Multispace. The only things I splashed out on were a 110 hp engine and an outlet for playing my iPod. Colours were an optional extra, so I stuck with the basic white and blend into the countryside here, where every other vehicle seems to be a white Citroen or Peugeot.

At Christmas I drove 1200 km to London and - apart from the snow - loved every minute of the drive. Great car for motorways. Next project is to see if I can sleep in the back (arthritic 67-year-old, so this could be a challenge).

hello and welcome [french a bit rusty] welcome to forum. and what a choice of car / van you have made. Mine is brill.
sounds like your jumpy was a good old citroen?
As for sleeping in back, my partner and I [ old farts] can manage well, back seats out, or one side out if just me.
enjoy it I`m sure you will.
Does the mk 3 have any problems over there that you know of/

The only plus is that being on my own I should have enough room to turn over in the night!

Does the mk 3 have any problems over there that you know of/

You've lost me there. I thought the latest Berlingo was the Berlingo II that I have. So far I have only minor quibbles:
1. sometimes the left (LHD) edge of the front window obscures my vision. Ditto the passenger's headrest.
2. I get annoyed at not being able to see how late I am when on sidelights (the radio and clock panel is dimmed)
3. The modutop is brilliant, particularly the back locker, but some of the spaces are a bit bizarre and I have now been hit on the head several times by road maps in the central upper shelf. (LOve the compartment in front. My car papers live permanently and safely there.)

interesting....is the mk 2 in france really a mk 2 or is it the bigger wider mk 3 as marketed in uk. When I was in france skiing over xmas I saw quite a few mk 3 `s.
Wonder how its marketed over there?

You've lost me there. I thought the latest Berlingo was the Berlingo II that I have.

I think that we may have a difference in terminology. On this forum, the Mk 1 is the 1996-2002 version, the Mk 2 is the 2002-2008 version, and the Mk 3 is the current Berlingo. Other places will use different nomenclature.

Funny that. On our old Mk 1 Berlingo (without a modutop), the front seat passenger was occasionally hit on the head by road atlases etc. falling out of the overhead shelf that ran along the front of the car.
