M59 Heater/Blower
#1
2004 2.0hdi Berlingo  Desire
Blower motor works on high speed but intermittently on low to middle speeds .
Several years ago I replaced the resistors on the blower motor itself. The Bling has air con
I recently replaced an in air duct resistor on my mothers later version partner tepee.(easy job)
I would like to know if anyone knows whether my bling has such a resistor in addition to the on motor ones  .If so where is it ?
Many thanks to all you Blingers

I'm following this with interest, since my blower behaves similarly. On low/middle speeds it changes when you go over speed bumps etc, so I always assumed it was a mechanical thing rather than a resistor.

The last time it happened to my bling it was the two resistors on the motor itself. Motor out disconnect resistor pack ,de solder two resistors? re install 2 new . job done but only since I fixed my mothers later partner have I queried other locations. I will have a look myself .( when it gets warmer.)

It will be the blower resistor. Normally bolts into the fan housing. On some models it's in the plenum chamber under the bonnet but all the ones I've seen are inside attached to the blower motor housing. Usually a square green thing with a flat plug connector.

Thanks Zion I'll have a look .

I have just received a new blower resistor pack ( the one with electronic circuitry and soldered to an aluminium heat sink.Crescent shaped .I will change it in a few days if it gets warmer . I think the bonnet release bracket needs removing for access . I'll let you all know as and when.
Zion I've seen the green thing and changed it on a later model with success.

Ah ok mate, there are two motor models and one had the aluminium finned version to control speed, attached to the motor end. The green one just clips in and bolts into the plastic surrounding the motor.

Damn, I've just changed the blower resistor pack. It seems as though it hasn't solved the problem .I think it might be new motor time.I'm just looking on line and there seems to be a dozen or so different ones .I'll have to go through them to ensure I get the correct one RHD,with air con, built in resistor, inside leg measurement. etc.Original valeo £200 ish .
I hope it is not the switch as I remember from years ago it was only available as the bank of 3. and it is probably obsolete by citroen .Hey ho.

Motor part numbers are a bloody minefield. I know its an M59 but have a look at my own thread on when I did mine on the B9, see if anything there helps in terms of part numbers or motor testing etc.

The motor is pretty robust for what it is, but the controller is often an issue. If I remember you had only full speed and nothing in between, do you have climate control or manual settings? If the motor works on full speed, then the motor is fine and its a speed control problem.

The climate control version has some connections / supplies coming from the main unit to the fan controls.

It is not climate control but it is manual air con. It seems to work fine on full speed and sort of works on speeds throughout the range both on external and recirculating air. I think i will take it out in a few days and pull the motor out of the housing and clean the comm.and check the length of the brushes . The wife is happy as it is ,But I'd rather do this before it fails completely.
