Medway area recommended mechanics
#1
Does anyone know of a mechanic in Medway area (or thereabouts) to look at my 2.0hdi, 2005? It has an EGR recurring problem that I can’t sort myself.
Main dealer in Rainham is my only option, unless anyone on here can recommend someone that knows the berlingo.

Sadly there aren't many other than the main dealer, but their service is ok for what you get for the money but it has definitely gone downhill since they became part of a larger dealership.  It's pricey too.

The injector went on mine at the end of last year and I decided not to go to them and went to here instead after a friends recommendation, and they were really good. - https://www.medspray.co.uk/

A lot of the independant Citroen experts have gone, I am not sure if Medway Citroen is still going.

Thanks Mike. I tried to call Medway Citroen in second Avenue but their number is dead. The dealer I used in frindsbury has long gone.
Thanks for the lead though. I’ll call them next week in the hope they can help.
Hidsons are my last resort as I know how expensive they can be.
Dam these Ecus! I got a 60yr old 4 pot lister diesel in my boat with the starter motor being the only electrical component. No sensors nor gauges. It’s never been apart and never broken down. I dread to imagine it’s running hours . I wonder if it would fit under a berlingo bonnet?!

That was probably Hills, they were great until they moved to the Medway City Estate.

Having also had experience with boat engines (marinised taxi engines) I know how much easier they are too.

Here's the HDi blank plate, under a fiver mate. This should fix your issue as posted on the other thread. Takes 20 mins to fit with a 10mm spanner. Well worth a try before doing anything else. We all fitted one of these on the M59 HDi, cures most EGR problems right away.

Drops in here between the valve and manifold: (click for large view, drops in after slackening both nuts off, then tighten and you're done)

I took my berlingo into medspray. They can’t really help me in this instance, but they were helpful. They done an emissions test for free and its easily a pass for an mot. They also said I’ve got no obvious  major engine problems like worn rings or sticky valves as it’s starting and running really well.
So the search still goes on for a good reputable mechanic in Medway.

I admit this may be scraping the barrel, but the two guys who run the Salvage Rebuilds UK youtube channel have had a few Berlingos through their shop recently,  going by their videos.

Whether you'd think them worth trying is up to you - watch some of their output to get an idea.

They are near Sittingbourne.

yes, indeed it is in your hands if you do it or not, maybe in the video they explain the procedure perfectly and everything goes great for you, greetings from Spain

For reference.. found a french car mechanic in The Delce, Rochester. The car shop I believe he’s called. Spoke to him on the phone and he knows the berlingo/partners well. Gave me sound advice to try before I take it into him for this bloomin EGR problem.
