Stop my TomTom falling down

When I bought my Multispace last summer, I felt I could not justify the expense of the built in satnav. Then at Christmas i bought a TomTom. I'm delighted with it, except for its location, on the front window. First you need gorilla arms to program it without taking it off its mount and second, where I live in rural France, the potholes encourage the satnav (with or without its mount) to leap of the window and hurtle to the ground. (I don't trust systems which require adhesion to a window, particularly when it gets very hot here.)

I would prefer to mount the satnav nearer me, on the central console. I had been thinking about making some sort of plug for the storage hole in the central console (number 6 in the attached diagram). Then, last week I got talking to a guy in the carwash queue and he said he had found a mount designed specifically for this hole, on some sort of accessories site in Germany. The queue moved forward before I could ask for its address.

Does anybody have any ideas about a TomTom mount using this handy circular space?

You can buy an adapter kit from TomTom which attaches the air vent, Halfords also stock them, priced at £21.00.

I have mine mounted to wondscreen where I ca glance at it whilst still looking out of window, however I have same problem of it coming off window when its really hot or cold....anyone found a way of making these suckers really stick to glass?

It often doesn't stick if you don't wet the suction pad slightly before putting it on - once it's on though it's been solid and I don't recall it falling off while driving.

Pete and shedpete - Thanks for your replies. If the kits mount attaches to the vent near the front window, it solves the (not)sticking to the window problem, but does not solve the gorilla arm problem - just too far away.
pch - I agree, it was during my snowy trip through France that I could not get the mount to stick to the window, and I fear the extreme heat here in summer will present similar problems.

It seems such a pity not to use the spare hole in the Berlingo console for something useful, particularly as this guy at the carwash said it existed on some German website. I like the fact also that this is near the cigarette lighter, so one can control the trailing cables, and further away from the central mirror (I found it a bit distracting to have the movement on the satnav relatively close to the mirror).

is exactly what I'm looking for.

My German was not up to understanding the site you referred to, but I followed the link to http://www.ram-mount.com (which was down most of today) and I have now written to them to check that the upholder mount fits the Berlingo 2 and that it can take a mount for the tom-tom xxl. I'll report back if they respond.

Thanks to Chris I also looked at this mount by Arkon. It goes straight into the cigarette lighter. I'm less keen on this as it is lower down and too far to the right - not so good for a quick glance at the map. The following picture gives you the idea (though curiously I reckon it is upside down!):

brodit proclip
So far these are a little disappointing; the proclip seems to either cover the air vent (and the photo is not the same as my car) or attached to the floor console and so too low down.
