[Warning Light] Berlingo BSI ECU
#1
Hi,
Looking for some advice on a Citroen Berlingo 1.9D 2006. The BSI unit has major water damage due to a windscreen issue after National Windscreens fitted a new one. The information from the BSI can’t be retrieved and new ones are no longer available. The mechanic who services my van and does an excellent job has searched for a donor vehicle and parts without luck. I have searched also and have been offered the same number BSI unit, ECU unit and key card. Not sure what the keycard is? Also would there be any other items I need from the donor vehicle, like keys, speedo etc. Any advice would be really helpful. If I can’t get this sorted this week the van is off to the scrap yard which is a shame as on 75000 genuine miles on it.
Thanks for any advice.
Happy to give my email and mobile number.

Cheers, Les

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your windscreen experience.
I think what you need is a 'virginised' BSI, that is a blank BSI without any config. There can't be too much config missing on a 1.9D engine as the ECU & other electronics will be very basic. Even the immobiliser is fairly easy to bypass.
I suggest that you contact 'HDI Tuning' to start with and see what they say. There is a YouTube video somewhere that they made which explains how to configure a blank BSI.
There are also some threads on here about fitting a replacement BSI that may be of help.

Hi, Thank you for the welcome and response.

The mechanic did get a reconditioned BSI but when the tech tried to program it it still had info from the previous vehicle. They did send another but the tech refused to be involved with it again. The mechanic, (used to work for Citroen), has said the ECU is the issue and this needs to be the same number and a Lucas one. I have found a scrap dealer who has the same number BSI but just checking on the ECU number and make as apparently it has to be Lucas. I am way out of my depth but it would be a pity to scrap the van at this point. Thanks, Les

I'm sure it can be repaired, but you will need someone that can configure the BSI. I forgot to say that a 'keycard' is probably the credit card sized plastic card which has the key number & key programming code printed on it.
Whereabouts in the UK are you?

Thanks, just contacting them. Scrap dealer has same number ECU and BSI also. Would I need anything else? Thanks

If you swap the BSI and ECU out, you need the keys and locks including ignition barrel. The plug and play one may not need anything with it, send the seller a message and explain, see what they say.
