Steel wheel options
#1
OK, (probably) stupid question time...

I'm thinking of changing the wheels on my van for 15" steels, I want to just fill the arches out a bit so was thinking of getting a set banded by 1", I found these on ebay: 4 Alcar steel wheels 8475 6.0Jx15 ET18 4x108 for Citroen Berlingo Xsara Picasso 9008070284758 | eBay

Looking here: PCD Citroen wheels -Wheelfitment.eu | PCD, Offset, Center Bore, mounting and tire size data there are various wheels with greater offset than my current ones, so can I achieve the same thing with a straight swap? And if so, which ones?

As I say probably a stupid question but despite messing with cars for many years I never really got into swapping wheels.

I've not investigated for myself but have read numerous similar wheel swap posts on here over the last couple of years, try some forum searches, the search facility is a little tetchy (I find!) but all the info you want is here if you persevere!

I agree that the forum search feature is incredibly picky.

Another more flexible way to search the forum is by using Google. For example putting this into G's search box exactly as it appears here (including any spaces or lack of them):

"wheel" "offset" site:https://www.berlingoforum.com/

will search the forum for any pages which include both the word "wheel" and the word "offset", whether or not they appear next to each other.

Changing the first bit to this:

"wheel offset" site:https://www.berlingoforum.com/

will now find pages containing the phrase "wheel offset".

I have swapped out wheels over the last decade on my b9 van using stock from a wide variety of Citroen and Plugs.
All have ,at least, physically fitted with some types running closer to the brake caliperss than others.
There's also https://www.carlsalter.com/citroen-wheel-fitments.html.
Not sure if it's the same Carl as on Brassic.......
Offset can affect handling characteristics but as yours is a van I'm guessing that's not going to worry you too much.

Thanks for the tip on searching, I did try a search for '15" steel wheels' but drew a blank.

I'll have a look through the threads and see what I can come up with.

What size are the existing wheels / tyres?

Whatever you do check that your insurance are happy with it!!

Wheels and tyres are classed as safety issues

Wheels are the standard 14", think all the 14's are 5.5J ? , can't remember the tyre size without looking.

Doing some searching I'm getting 2 different ETs, 18 and 24. To get what I want it seems I would need a lot less offset, so I don't think it's doable.

I'm waiting for a reply from my current insurers (Aviva), if they say no I will go with a specialist.

just put "wheel" in the search box and you'll get 21 pages of results. Not all exactly what you want but you may find something useful

My current wheels are 14" X 5.5", ET24 with 175/65 tyres.

To keep the same rolling radius on a 15" X 7" wheel it looks like I would need 225/45 tyres.

I would need zero offset wheels to put them 1" (approx) further out into the arches.
