Berlingo B9 2nd Gen 2010 shift shifter?
#1
Hey,

Just wondered if anyone has or knows where to get a shift shifter for the 2nd gen berlingo van? I’ve seen on eBay a N type one for 1 gen that looks straight forward to fit, but Carnt seem to find one for the 2nd gen berlingo.

This what I’ve seen - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/353929638856?...8wQAvD_BwE

Would that fit the 2nd gen B9?

Cheers

The eBay ad says you can message them with your VIN, they should know if it'll fit or if they have one that will.

That one is for a 1.9D M59 so it's not suitable for the B9. The C4 one they sell on their own site should match, this is for the 1.6 HDi 5-speed box, but contact them directly and ask:

Hi thanks for the reply, it’s funny as you say that because I have messaged them and they said it should fit have never tried it, I’ve literally just received the email. In your opinion do you think it should fit and am I correct in thinking that it would be located under the air box?

The M49 & M59 gear linkages may well be the same, but the B9 looks a lot different inside. Are you sure yours is a B9?

According to the description it takes 10 mins to fit, and hopefully comes with instructions. If they say it'll fit based on your Reg & VIN, then you have a good case for sending it back if it doesn't.

It could well be they are the same, I made my own quick shift on my first M59 by cutting the shift lever down by the length of the ignition key, and araldited the knob back on. Worked perfectly! (Ghetto mod I know) and had thought about doing the same on my B9 later on, but never got round to it. The shame is the ones for the HDi are so expensive, but as said, if it doesn't fit, they have to take it back.

I just fitted a quick shift to my Ford ST which cost me £17 and took about 30 mins to bolt on.

I'd pay by credit card so you can just do a chargeback if it's wrong.

Thanks for the reply friend of mine has just got a quick shift and bolted it to his ford so I was looking for one for my Citroen. I definitely have the B9 model and I’ve had a look on the website but I cannot see if that part will fit and where it would fit. When you say cut down to the length to the key height do you mean the actual stick sticking up with the gear knob on it just cut that down?

Take the gear knob off, cut a section off the top of the metal shift lever, about the length of the key (40-50mm) and then put the knob back on. Ghetto quick shift. Very effective.

You only need to move the pivot point or shorten the lever. This is shortening the lever as the bolt on things move the pivot point.

I’m guessing you removed the stick, cut down then reattached??

No, pulled the shift knob off, put a cloth around the base of the stick and hacksawed the top piece off then put the white plastic bit back on and clipped the knob back on. I did crack the white clip and ended up aralditing it back on but it never budged after that.
