Knoking noise when opening driver door
#1
Anyone else had the problem with the front doors knoking noise when opening/closing? The noise it's like PAC when door get's opened almost full, the mechanic told me it's something like door stopper (the black metal in the middle of the door between the 2 hinges).
Is it hard to fix/replace?

I do not have the B9, but had the same thing in my Peugeot 307, the door strap needs replacing. On my pug 307 was fairly straight forward and easy to replace and I suspect it will be the same in the B9. The clunking noise dissappeared completely after I replaced it.
I did not spend too much time looking, but there are plenty of videos, as far as I managed to find (rather quick search) this is for the B9: https://youtu.be/ltX_z0_xZgs

You could try squirting some lube along the strap and into the slot?

I cannot find where my broken door strap is to post a photo or maybe I threw it away. The strap itself is a metal that has a widening and then kind of a smooth cut and ends on a T to stop the door opening completely. When you open the door to the first tension, this is the widening resisting agains an immobile pin and there is a spring there as well. If you force it a bit more, the widening gets forced pass this pin and the door opens fully. Once the first resistance is passed you can feel it is much easier to open the door due to the smooth cut after the widening.

Frequently, from the multiple openings, the holes that hold the pin are eaten away and the pin is free to move quite a bit. The clunking noise is that when the first resistance is passed the pin moves within the upper or lower hole and hits it, so it produces the noise. Maybe a few gusts of wind that force the T end to bang on the pin to stop the door, really shake the pin and eventually the pin holes get wider and wider.

Unless of course you have a few loose bolts that hold the strap on the door or on the frame. Most likely it is the pin that gets moving within the holes. Not much can be done apart from replacing the whole strap mechanism. Should be cheap on ebay. There are probably variations with the strap mechanism, but probably the same across PSA vehicles.

Yes, unless the bolts are just loose. It seems a bit more involved in the B9 with needing to remove the door trim as well.

this are the clips?

if I remove the door trim I will also put some dynamat or other sound insulation sheet for both doors
do you think that 10 clips are enough?

Someone with a B9 should come along to advise if these are the ones for the door card. I think they are the same in the M59.

10 should be enough. The last time I took my door trim, I only broke a couple, but it is good to replace them with the rubber ones that you have posted. It might reduce vibrations a bit.

Replaced the door stopper, added soundproofing foil STP Black Gold to both front doors, replaced the factory speaker with HERTZ MILLE PRO MPX 165.3
The old door stopper had a broken wheel that's why it was making the clonking noise.
Now the front doors seem more solid, and the noise when closing/opening the doors is like on the expensive cars, no metal noise, no rattles Smile
Also the road noise is a little bit less now, my wife noticed this.
The sound is much improved over the factory speakers, I will also replace the rear speakers in near future.
