Battery issue?
#1
Hi,
I've noticed some odd behaviour on my 2017 enterprise van....

Several things are occasionally happening, firstly when I open the door the battery light flashes, at one point (only once) the touch screen went into eco mode within a few seconds of switching the ignition on, the radio doesn't always tune to the last station, and the right hand speakers randomly stop working but work again next time I get in it.

Could this be signs is a bad battery, or possibly a bad connection somewhere?

(it's had a teletrac fitted previously, there's a box still on the top of the windscreen and there appears to be a aftermarket led light to the left of the steering wheel - immobiliser?)

Appreciate any advice

Cheers Chris

A battery test will be free in most all Kwik-Fit type places and probably in every other place too - takes seconds.

I'd get it tested before doing anything.

Do you have a multimeter ? You can get a reasonable idea with a meter and also use it to test the alternator.

Thanks Geoff, I'll dig out my old multimeter, failing that take it somewhere. I'll feed back what I find ?

OK, so after a short couple of runs, the voltage is 12.72v, charging its 14.45v. But after an hour locked up the voltage dropped to 12.55v.
Either the battery is goosed or there's a drain on it?

Ideally you need to test the battery after standing idle.

After an overnight stop and before starting the engine is perfect.

OK, battery charged off the van, standing idle after about 10hrs it's 12.95v.
Hmm sounds OK but may need a load of test to double check it.

I noticed on the - ve terminal some corrosion upto a sensor (battery monitor?), I'll clean this up up but starting to suspect a parasitic drain?

Battery reinstalled, and I've removed two aftermarket fuses for what look like the teletrac system so will see if that works
