Engine Fault Repair Needed, Emissions Fault Adblue
#21
Interesting information there. It's the first time I've had a van with adblue and the regens I've heard about but never experienced yet. It's a frustrating issue and before Monday I've got some running around to do. Hopefully someone else in the house can help with that so I'm not doing any extra damage.

Also, I'm not sure if I'm a B9 or K9 model.

You can't break it. And for info the Adblue is totally different, it has nothing to do with the DPF, it's for controlling nitrous oxides in the exhaust gases.

NOx is formed when air is partially burned (oxidized) and creates nitrogen oxides or NOx, which is bad for humans.

Adblue is Urea, which when sprayed into the exhaust gas stream, downwind of the cat and DPF will reduce the NOx to acceptable levels, using an injector which sprays it in as required, driven to do so by a NOx sensor in the exhaust line.

B9: (is it like this)

Or K9

Let me know, I'll move the thread if need be.

I jumped onto this one as it was kind of relating to my issue. But looking at the pictures, it's a B9. Taking the info of "you can't break it", I'm assuming it's ok to drive a bit other than back to dealer?

Yeah I drove mine 700 miles with a dead additive pump in one go, and it still regens but now I've cleared the fault code with Diagbox 9 and then fitted a plastic fuel cap so it never uses the pump again.

Eolys helps the soot to stick to the filter, without it the DPF still works and regens still happen fine, but it needs the code cleared and a non OEM fuel cap fitted till the pump & tank unit is replaced. I'll get round to replacing the tank at some point. For now it's running perfectly without it.

Mine now regens every 475km (the ECU reports in km) which is the same as before the pump went.

Can't move the thread as it's in the right place for the OP, but you can now post in the B9 section.

No worries. Best at least to get it scanned with a pro scan tool or Diabox to confirm the code, but I've had this fault 3 times on different vans, it's very common and bloody always after refuelling, so I've stopped it noticing the cap has been removed after clearing the code by then putting a plastic twist-lock cap on from Amazon. Refuelling is now back the joyful experience it used to be. (Lol)

The additive pump only puts 5ml (a teaspoon) of Eolys in a full tank of diesel at a time, it has hardly any effect and would be better off not having this stupid system.

It now runs fine, till I can be bothered to fix it properly.

Eolys my arse, Frenchies. (Not you @ffrenchie of course Big Grin )

I shall bare that in mind about getting a twist lock cap too. Assuming that they're a standard fit.

Had an issue with the adblue cap to begin with too. It's did not want to open, and ended up buying the little tool adapter from laser (7929) I think it was. Made all the difference. Again, the dealer took it and looked and did something that's made it easy!

Over all I hope it's an easy fix.

Hi Zion,

Just to update you. The dealer spent a while looking at it. The eolys fluid is low, apparently needs a refill and reset which they're doing on Thursday for me. And despite being second hand they would have honoured the warranty if it was a full replacement too!
