Lexia diagnostics

Hey everyone,

Any advice about Lexia? Been searching posts on here for ages and keep seeing conflicting advice. I need it for a 2005 Dw8 1.9 so clearly really basic capabilities. Can it work on a modern Windows laptop (I'm reading its XP only?). Is it hard to actually install? Ebay the place to go, all seem circa £50. I'm from the VAG scene, is it simular to Vcds? Any advice greatly recieved and appreciated. Tia Alex

I'm not an expert on these, but here are my two cents. Yes, it can work on a modern laptop, but it needs to be behind a virtual box, say the free VM (https://www.virtualbox.org/). You can install XP there, I think one can even download XP from the link. I have a copy of my Diagbox under Win 7 as well. I think this is as far you can push it up the Windows ladder.
You can buy it off ebay, but you can also download it from a torrent site, same distro. It is not too difficult to install, just follow the instructions that come with the installation.

If you can manage to setup virtualbox and a torrent client, I have a torrent here:

You'll want the first link probably, it's a Windows XP virtual machine you can run in virtualbox that has everything already installed. Never connect the (virtual) machine to the internet. If you want to be safe, disconnect your actual computer.

The second link in that thread is a copy of the DVD I bought, which has instructions to install the software. It's a ballache but can work if can't get the VM working in any other way
