Tapping noise 2004 HDi
#1
Hi everyone,

I’m hoping for some good news here but I’m a little worried.

When the engines running, Theres a very faint tapping sound coming from the engine bay. This will increase in frequency when a bit of pressures applied to the pedal.

The timing belt and hardware has been changed within the last couple of months, so I can’t imagine it’s that?

Any advice or experience in this area would be most welcome.

Many thanks,
Alistair

Might be as simple as the tappet gaps are a little wide - use a long screwdriver held against your ear (handle end!) and the pointy end on the engine to try to narrow down the source of the noise, and then report back on here to see what it might be. Good luck!
